Palatoglossal arch

Definition

The palatoglossal arch is a muscular fold that extends from the lateral side of the soft palate to the side of the tongue, marking the boundary between the oral cavity and the oropharynx. It plays a role in swallowing by helping to close off the nasal passages during this process.
