Definition

The palatine bone is a paired L-shaped bone that forms part of the nasal cavity and the hard palate, which separates the oral and nasal cavities. It contributes to the structure of three skull regions: the floor and lateral wall of the nasal cavity, the roof of the mouth, and part of the orbit.
