from class:

Anatomy and Physiology I

Definition

Obstructive shock occurs when there is a blockage that prevents blood from circulating properly through the cardiovascular system, leading to reduced oxygen delivery to tissues and organs. This condition can result from factors such as a pulmonary embolism or cardiac tamponade that physically impede blood flow.
