Definition
The longitudinal fissure is a deep groove that separates the two hemispheres of the brain in the central nervous system. This fissure divides the human brain into left and right cerebral hemispheres, allowing for specialized functions in each.
Each of the two halves of the brain (left and right) that are separated by the longitudinal fissure and control different functions and cognitive processes.
