Definition

The lambdoid suture is a dense, fibrous connective tissue joint that unites the parietal bones with the occipital bone at the posterior aspect of the skull. It resembles an inverted 'V' and is named for its lambda-like shape, which is similar to the Greek letter lambda (λ).
