Greater sciatic notch

Definition

The greater sciatic notch is a deep, curved indentation in the posterior edge of the hip bone, through which several important nerves and blood vessels pass to enter the gluteal region from the pelvis. It plays a crucial role in separating the pelvic girdle's ilium and ischium bones.
