Globin is a group of proteins that form part of the structure of hemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying molecule in red blood cells. These proteins bind with heme groups to transport oxygen and carbon dioxide through the bloodstream.
Also known as red blood cells, these are the most common type of blood cell and the principal means of delivering oxygen to body tissues via the circulatory system.
