Fossa

Definition

In the context of anatomy and physiology, particularly within the chapter on the appendicular skeleton and discussing the pectoral girdle, a fossa is a shallow depression or hollow in a bone. These depressions serve as attachment points for muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
