Definition
A fibrous joint is a type of connection between bones where no joint cavity is present and the bones are held together by dense connective tissue. These joints allow for little to no movement, providing stability in various parts of the skeleton.
Suture: A type of fibrous joint found only in the skull where segments are tightly bound together by connective tissue.
Syndesmosis: A fibrous joint where bones are joined by longer fibers of connective tissue, allowing for more movement than other types of fibrous joints but still very limited.
