Delta cells are a type of cell found in the pancreas that produce and secrete the hormone somatostatin, which plays an important role in regulating the digestive system by inhibiting the release of certain other hormones. They are part of the endocrine functions of the pancreatic islets (islets of Langerhans), contributing to the body's overall hormonal balance.
