Cortical nephrons

Definition

Cortical nephrons are a type of nephron located primarily in the outer portion of the kidney's cortex, characterized by their short loops of Henle, which do not extend deeply into the medulla. They are responsible for most of the kidney's reabsorptive and filtrative functions.
