Cone photoreceptor

Definition

Cone photoreceptors are specialized types of cells in the retina of the eye that are responsible for color vision and function best in relatively bright light. Unlike their counterparts, the rod photoreceptors, cones enable the perception of fine detail and a wide range of colors due to their sensitivity to different wavelengths of light.
