Condylar process of the mandible

Definition

The condylar process of the mandible is a rounded projection at the top of the mandible (lower jawbone) that connects to the temporal bone of the skull, forming part of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). It allows for movement of the jaw such as opening, closing, and lateral movements.
