Definition

The cochlear duct is a spiral-shaped, fluid-filled tube within the cochlea of the inner ear, crucial for converting sound vibrations into nerve impulses that are interpreted by the brain as sound. It houses the organ of Corti, which contains hair cells that act as sensory receptors for hearing.
