Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP)

Definition

Atrial natriuretic peptide is a hormone secreted by the heart's atria that regulates blood pressure and fluid balance. It lowers blood pressure by causing the kidneys to excrete more sodium and water, thus reducing blood volume.
