Definition

Alveoli in the context of the ovarian reproductive system refer to the small, sac-like structures within the mammary glands where milk is produced and secreted during lactation. Each alveolus is lined with milk-producing epithelial cells and surrounded by myoepithelial cells that help expel milk into the ducts leading to the nipple.
