A Wide Area Network (WAN) is a telecommunications network that extends over a large geographical area for the purpose of computer networking. WANs are used to connect multiple smaller networks, such as local area networks (LANs) or metro area networks (MANs), allowing computers and users in one location to communicate with computers and users in other locations.
