Definition
Starburst is a period of intense star formation in a galaxy, often triggered by a merger or interaction with another galaxy. During this phase, the rate of star formation can be up to 100 times higher than usual.
The process where two or more galaxies collide and merge to form a single, larger system.
Active Galactic Nucleus (AGN): A compact region at the center of a galaxy that has exceptionally high luminosity due to accretion of matter by a supermassive black hole.
Interstellar Medium (ISM): The matter that exists in the space between stars within galaxies, composed mainly of gas and dust.
