Oogenesis:The process of egg cell development, in which oogonia undergo a series of cell divisions and differentiation to form mature egg cells.
Oocyte: The egg cell, or female gamete, that is produced from the maturation of an oogonium and is capable of being fertilized by a sperm cell.
Follicle: A structure in the ovary that contains an oogonium and provides it with nutrients and support during its development into an oocyte.
