Intracellular Fluid (ICF): The fluid contained within the cells of the body, which accounts for about two-thirds of the total body water.
Extracellular Fluid (ECF): The fluid found outside the cells, including the interstitial fluid and the blood plasma, which makes up the remaining one-third of the total body water.
Osmosis:The movement of water molecules across a semi-permeable membrane from a region of lower solute concentration to a region of higher solute concentration, in an effort to equalize the solute concentrations on both sides.
