Definition

Transportation refers to the movement of people, animals, and goods from one location to another. In history, it includes various modes such as by foot, road vehicles, trains, ships, aircrafts and more.

Analogy

Think of transportation like the veins in your body. Just as veins carry blood from one part of your body to another for proper functioning, transportation systems move people and goods around to keep a society or economy running smoothly.
