Definition

Sublimation is a type of defense mechanism where socially unacceptable impulses are transformed into socially acceptable actions or behavior.

Analogy

Think about it like this - You're really angry and feel like punching something. Instead of acting on this impulse, you decide to channel this energy into an intense workout session. The anger has been sublimated into something more productive and socially acceptable.
