Memory

Definition

Memory is the mental process of encoding, storing, and retrieving information.

Analogy

Think of memory like a giant filing cabinet in your brain. When you learn something new, it's like creating a new file and putting it in the cabinet (encoding). Over time, that file gets stored deeper in the cabinet (storage). When you need to recall that information later, you have to go into the cabinet and find that specific file (retrieval).
