Genocide is the deliberate and systematic destruction of a racial, ethnic, national, or religious group. It involves acts intended to destroy the group's existence, such as killing members, causing serious bodily or mental harm, and inflicting living conditions meant to bring about its physical destruction. Throughout history, genocides have often been linked to mass atrocities, particularly during periods of political upheaval, conflict, and significant social change.
