A conditioned response is a learned reaction to a conditioned stimulus that occurs because of previous conditioning.
It's like when you hear your phone ding with a text message notification, and you immediately reach for it. This isn't an instinctual action; rather, it's something you've learned over time due to repeated exposure (the sound of the ding).
Classical Conditioning: A type of learning where an organism learns to associate two stimuli, leading to new behaviors.
Operant Conditioning: A type of learning where behavior is strengthened if followed by reinforcement or diminished if followed by punishment.
Extinction (in psychology): The disappearance of a previously learned behavior when the behavior is not reinforced.
