Apostrophe

Definition

Apostrophe occurs when a speaker directly addresses an absent person, an abstract idea, or an inanimate object as if it were present and capable of responding.

Analogy

Imagine you're watching your favorite sports team on TV, and you start yelling at them as if they could hear you. That's similar to apostrophe because you're addressing someone who isn't physically there or able to respond.
