Definition

Anticipation refers to the expectation or excitement that builds up within readers as they predict future events based on clues provided by an author. It creates an emotional connection between readers and characters while keeping them engaged with the storyline.

Analogy

Anticipation is like waiting for your favorite band to release their new album. You get excited thinking about how it will sound, what songs will be included, and eagerly anticipate its release date.
