Definition
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is a global organization dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights and building a better future for refugees, forcibly displaced communities and stateless people.
Analogy
Think of the UNHCR as a global lifeguard. Just like a lifeguard watches over swimmers at the beach or pool, ready to jump in and save anyone in danger, the UNHCR monitors situations around the world where people are forced to flee their homes due to conflict or persecution. They step in to provide aid, protection, and solutions just like a lifeguard would rescue struggling swimmers.
