Graphic Scale

Definition

A graphic scale is a tool used on maps to represent the actual distance on the ground. It's a line marked with measurements, similar to a ruler, that helps users understand the size of features and distances between locations on a map.

Analogy

Think of a graphic scale like the zoom feature on your smartphone camera. Just as you can zoom in and out to see more or less detail in your photos, you can use the graphic scale to understand how much real-world distance is covered by different areas of the map.
