Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a colorless gas produced by burning fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gas. It is one of the primary greenhouse gases responsible for global warming.
Picture carbon dioxide as a cozy blanket that wraps around the Earth. Just like a blanket traps heat and keeps you warm, carbon dioxide traps heat in our atmosphere, leading to rising temperatures.
Fossil Fuels: Non-renewable energy sources formed from the remains of ancient plants and animals, which release carbon dioxide when burned.
Photosynthesis: The process by which green plants use sunlight to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose (sugar) and oxygen.
Ocean Acidification: The ongoing decrease in pH levels of Earth's oceans due to the absorption of excess carbon dioxide, causing harm to marine life.
