A basic solution is a liquid mixture that has a pH level greater than 7, which means it has more hydroxide ions (OH-) than hydrogen ions (H+).
Think of a basic solution like a party where there are more people dancing (hydroxide ions) than sitting down (hydrogen ions). The more dancers there are, the livelier (more basic) the party becomes.
pH Scale: This is the measure of how acidic or basic a substance is. It ranges from 0 to 14, with 7 being neutral.
Acidic Solution: This is the opposite of a basic solution. It has more hydrogen ions than hydroxide ions and falls below 7 on the pH scale.
Neutral Solution: This type of solution has an equal number of hydrogen and hydroxide ions, making its pH exactly 7.
