corn

Definition

A corn is a small, hardened area of skin that usually forms on the toes due to friction or pressure. It is distinct from other skin lesions by its hard center surrounded by inflamed skin.

Analogy

Imagine your skin as a piece of armor that thickens in response to constant battle, like how a blacksmith might reinforce parts of armor that receive the most hits. A corn develops as the skin's way of protecting itself against the repeated pressure and rubbing, much like reinforcing armor where it gets worn down.
