The American Indian Movement (AIM) is a grassroots organization founded in 1968 that advocates for the rights and sovereignty of Native American peoples. AIM emerged as a response to the historical injustices faced by Indigenous communities, seeking to address issues like treaty rights, economic opportunity, and social justice through activism and direct action. This movement played a significant role in promoting Pan-Indian solidarity and intertribal alliances, as well as being a central part of the Red Power movement that sought to empower Native Americans and reclaim their rights.
