Gravity

Definition

Gravity is a fundamental force that attracts objects with mass towards each other. It is responsible for phenomena such as planetary motion and keeping us grounded on Earth.

Analogy

Picture yourself jumping off a diving board into a pool. As you fall towards the water due to gravity, you experience an attractive pull towards it just like how objects with mass are attracted towards each other.

Related terms

Mass: A measure of the amount of matter in an object. It determines the strength of its gravitational attraction.

Gravitational Field: The region around a massive object where it exerts a force on other objects with mass.

Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation: Describes the gravitational force between two objects as directly proportional to their masses and inversely proportional to the square of their distance apart.
