pKb is a measure of basicity or alkalinity. It's defined as the negative logarithm (base 10) of base dissociation constant (Kb). A lower pKb value indicates a stronger base.
Imagine you're at a party and there's pizza - everyone loves pizza! The more slices you take for yourself (lowering your own 'pKb'), the less there will be for others, making you 'stronger' at getting pizza than others - just like how strong bases are better at accepting protons!
Base Dissociation Constant (Kb): This measures how readily a base accepts protons from water molecules when it dissolves.
Hydroxide Ion Concentration [OH-]: Refers to how many hydroxide ions are present in a solution after a base has accepted protons.
pOH: This is another way to measure basicity or alkalinity, based on the concentration of hydroxide ions. Lower pOH values indicate higher basicity.
