Definition

The Southwest Region in the context of AP US History refers to the geographical area that includes states like Arizona, New Mexico, parts of Texas and Oklahoma. This region was home to Native American tribes such as the Navajo, Apache, and Pueblo.

Think of the Southwest Region as a desert-themed amusement park. Just like each ride in an amusement park has its unique features and thrills, each tribe in this region had its own distinct culture, traditions, and ways of life adapted to their arid environment.
