Climate Actions

Definition

Climate actions refer to steps taken by individuals, organizations, or governments to mitigate the effects of climate change. These can include reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting renewable energy sources, and implementing policies that promote sustainability.

Analogy

Think of climate actions like a group project in school. If everyone does their part (reducing waste, using renewable energy), the project (our planet) will be successful. But if some people don't contribute or actively harm the project (polluting, wasting resources), it's going to be much harder for the group to get a good grade (a healthy environment).

Related terms

Greenhouse gases: These are gases in Earth's atmosphere that trap heat. They let sunlight pass through the atmosphere but prevent the heat that sunlight brings from leaving the atmosphere.

Renewable Energy: This is energy from sources that are naturally replenishing but flow-limited; they are virtually inexhaustible in duration but limited in the amount of energy that is available per unit of time.

Sustainability: This refers to meeting our own needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
