Definition

A presidential appointment is when the President selects individuals to fill positions in federal government agencies, courts or diplomatic posts. These appointments often require Senate confirmation.

Analogy

Imagine being team captain in a sports game and getting to choose who plays what position. That's similar to presidential appointments - but instead of choosing based on athletic ability, it's about qualifications for specific roles within government.
