Definition
Control refers to the management or regulation of a process, system, or situation in order to maintain stability or achieve desired outcomes.
Analogy
Think of control as being like the steering wheel of a car. Just as the driver uses the steering wheel to keep the car on track and reach their destination safely, control in environmental science involves taking actions to steer and manage processes or systems towards desired outcomes.
