Definition

Charles V was the Holy Roman Emperor from 1519 to his abdication in 1556. He ruled over an extensive empire that included many territories in Europe and parts of the Americas.

Analogy

Think of Charles V as a CEO who's in charge of multiple international branches of a company. Just like how this CEO would have to manage different regions with their unique challenges and cultures, Charles had to rule over diverse territories spread across two continents.
