Two-Factor Theory of Intelligence

from class:

AP Psychology

Definition

The two-factor theory of intelligence, proposed by Charles Spearman, suggests that intelligence is composed of a general factor (g factor) and specific factors (s factors). The g factor represents the overall general intelligence that influences performance across various cognitive tasks, while the s factors are specific abilities that are unique to each task.
