Definition

The conducting zone consists of all the respiratory pathways that carry air to the sites of gas exchange but do not themselves participate in the exchange of gases. These include structures such as the nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, and bronchioles up to the terminal bronchioles.
