Autosomal dominant

Definition

Autosomal dominant is a pattern of inheritance where only one copy of a gene variant from an affected parent is required for the offspring to potentially inherit the condition. This gene variant is located on one of the autosomes, which are the chromosomes not involved in determining sex.
