Dotted Rhythm

Definition

Dotted rhythm is a rhythmic pattern consisting of a dotted note followed by a shorter note. The dotted note receives its full value plus half its value, while the shorter note fills in the remaining time.

Analogy

Think of eating chocolate chip cookies with big chocolate chunks (dotted notes) followed by smaller cookie pieces (shorter notes). The combination creates an interesting texture and flavor experience.
