Definition

Pacinian corpuscles are specialized nerve endings located in the dermis and hypodermis layers of the skin, responsible for sensing deep pressure and vibration. They are oval-shaped structures encapsulated by concentric layers of connective tissue that act to amplify mechanical signals to the nerve.
