Definition

The distal convoluted tubule is a portion of the kidney nephron that lies between the loop of Henle and the collecting duct, playing a crucial role in the reabsorption of water and ions to maintain body fluid balance. It regulates pH and electrolyte levels by selective reabsorption and secretion.
