Bicuspid valve

Definition

The bicuspid valve, also known as the mitral valve, is a dual-flap (or leaflet) valve in the heart that lies between the left atrium and the left ventricle. Its primary function is to allow blood to flow from the left atrium into the left ventricle while preventing backflow.
