# AP World History Teacher Resources | Fiveable

## Overview

Assign practice, review the grades, and plan your next lesson in Fiveable's Teacher Workspace.

Choose AP World History: Modern questions from Fiveable's bank, share an assignment, and review the work in one place. Use MCQs to check content knowledge, then SAQs, DBQs, and LEQs to see how students explain evidence and build arguments.

## Start with one class

Your first 3 assignments are included. No card is needed, and the allowance has no time limit or monthly reset. Each included assignment covers up to 120 AI-graded student responses. Students complete teacher assignments with free accounts and don't need a paid student subscription.

## Plan practice around historical reasoning

College Board's course framework asks students to analyze sources, connect developments, and develop arguments. When choosing questions, give each assignment a clear purpose. These examples show what to look for in student responses.

| Practice focus | When choosing questions | What to review |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Networks of exchange | Choose questions about trade networks and cultural exchange, then look for comparison or causation tasks. | Does the response explain how exchange changed a society, with specific evidence beyond naming a trade route? |
| Empires and historical sources | Select source-based MCQs or an available DBQ that asks students to interpret different perspectives. | Does the student connect a source's audience, purpose, or historical situation to the argument? |
| Industrialization and global change | Choose an SAQ or LEQ on a relevant development, with a focus on change, continuity, or causation. | Does the response explain a relationship between developments instead of listing events in sequence? |

These are planning examples. Choose from the questions available in your course's bank.

Planning for May 2027? College Board has updated the short-answer and long-essay questions for AP history. Course content hasn't changed. Review the official updates when planning exam practice.

### Read a sourcing explanation for its connection to the argument

Suppose a response identifies a merchant as the author of a historical source. That observation gives you a starting point. Ask whether the student explains how the merchant's position shaped the source's view of trade. Then check whether that explanation supports the student's argument about exchange.

When planning a follow-up, separate the content question from the reasoning question. A student who misidentifies a trading network may need a short reading and an MCQ check. A student who identifies the network accurately but leaves its effects unexplained may benefit from another SAQ. Choose available bank questions that give you evidence about the specific gap.

## Choose and share an assignment

Select your course and questions from Fiveable's existing bank. Publish the assignment and share its student link in Google Classroom or another LMS.

## Review and release the grades

MCQs score on submission. FRQs receive AI first reads using Fiveable's scoring guidelines. Review the feedback, adjust points, and release grades yourself.

## Use the responses to choose what comes next

A class can recognize a trade network and still need practice explaining its effects. Review unit and skill insights alongside responses. If several students name evidence without explaining it, model one evidence-to-claim connection before assigning another existing question.

## Teacher questions

### What can I assign in AP World History?

You can build assignments with MCQs, SAQs, DBQs, and LEQs from Fiveable's existing question bank. Choose the questions that fit your lesson. Custom question authoring isn't available in the assignment builder.

### How can I use this for AP World historical thinking skills?

Choose existing questions that practice sourcing, contextualization, comparison, causation, or continuity and change. Review the explanation as well as the score. A student may know the event but still need help connecting evidence to a historical argument.

### Who decides the final FRQ grade?

You do. Fiveable supplies an AI first read and point-by-point feedback using its own scoring guidelines. You review, adjust, and release grades because the grade is yours to stand behind.

### Do my students need paid Fiveable subscriptions?

No. Students need free Fiveable accounts to complete your assignments. They don't need paid student subscriptions for teacher-assigned work.

### How do the first included assignments work?

Your first 3 assignments are included. No card is needed, and the allowance has no time limit or monthly reset. Each included assignment covers up to 120 AI-graded student responses. Students complete teacher assignments with free accounts and don't need a paid student subscription.

### Can my school pay for teacher accounts?

Yes. Schools and departments can review seat pricing and purchasing options on Fiveable's schools checkout. The school pages also provide purchasing documents and privacy information for your business office and technology team.
