2021 AP Scores Rolling Release, Early Score Options, and College Board:

AP score release day is one of the most important days of the year for any AP student. Scoring an equivalent of 3 or higher on your AP exam allows you to be eligible to redeem college credit for the equivalent college-level course. That could lead to potentially saving thousands of dollars on college expenses (depending on your college or university).

The 2021 AP exams were administered in a completely new way with 5+ separate administrations of the exams as well as different formats and rules for paper vs virtual exams. Due to these changes, it's difficult to gauge what exam AP exam scores you'll receive based on the number of rubric points scored this year, and even when you will receive your AP Exam Scores.

Due to COVID-19, the AP exam format was changed to support online and in-person formats and in some cases, delayed. As a result, exam scoring was also pushed back. If you took your exams in Administration 1 or 2, then your 2021 AP scores will be available on July 21st, and depending on where you live, you'll be able to access your scores at a certain time. Scores are rolled out in geographic phases. AP Scores from Administrations 3 & 4 will be released on August 16th.

What is EarlyScores? Is it safe?

This section of the post is from a conversation we had with the founder of EarlyScores, Jacob Buckheit, in 2019. We formed a partnership last year to help Fiveable students gain early access to their 2019 AP exam scores.

In 2014, with my first AP courses under my belt, I anxiously anticipated the release of my AP exam scores. What I realized at that time was that scores were rolled out by the College Board over a weekโ€™s time, and my AP scores would be accessible on one of the later dates.

The need to see my scores on the first available date spurred me to create EarlyScores.com.

Albeit rudimentary in its first year, the basic framework of the site was created to login to the College Board website using a server in a state where scores had already been released. Because I had the reputation of the biggest computer โ€œnerdโ€ on my high school campus, many of my friends trusted the technology and received accurate score reports earlier than our anticipated release date. Purely through word of mouth, use of the site spread.

Is EarlyScores real and legit?

EarlyScores.com has continued to grow through the years based on two premises. First, students want to know their results as soon as possible and second, students trust the integrity and technology behind EarlyScores.com. Here is a message to Fiveable students from the founder of EarlyScores.com,

"We are not affiliated with, nor endorsed by the College Board, therefore we never store a studentโ€™s information from their College Board account. When a student uses our site and chooses to enter their account information, it is used to fetch their AP scores only. The trust students place in our site has allowed us to experience tremendous growth.

My first indication that EarlyScores.com was being taken seriously was when I received a text from a friend who attended another high school who was referring me to go use the site. Now over 1,000,000 students use it every year. I am proud to have developed a site that has become a go-to resource for students and parents who are navigating such an important time in life.

EarlyScores.com provides actionable content, information and advice from fellow students, and the satisfaction of fulfilling the โ€œneed to know.โ€
