Immunobiology
Sensitization is the process by which the immune system becomes increasingly responsive to a substance, known as an allergen, after initial exposure. During this process, the immune system produces specific antibodies, mainly Immunoglobulin E (IgE), which bind to the allergen. Upon subsequent exposures to the same allergen, this primed immune response can lead to allergic reactions, which may range from mild to severe.
